Can Microneedling Really Smooth Enlarged Pores and Rough Texture? What Maitland Patients Ask Us First

Yes, for many patients microneedling can make enlarged pores look smaller and rough texture feel smoother, though it will not erase pores or deep scars completely. Most patients do best with three to six sessions spaced about four weeks apart, with results building gradually over the following months.

At Vamped Aesthetics, every microneedling treatment is performed by our nurse practitioner, and every new patient starts with a consultation. If you have questions about your skin, reach out to our team or call (407) 412-8265.

What can microneedling do for enlarged pores and rough texture?

Microneedling can refine the look of pores and soften uneven texture by encouraging your skin to renew itself. It works on the skin's surface quality, not on volume, which is why we think of it as a skin-first treatment.

We use SkinPen, which was the first FDA-cleared microneedling device. It creates tiny, controlled channels in the skin, and the skin responds by repairing itself. Over a series of treatments, many patients notice skin that looks smoother, more even, and less textured. We can also add PRP made from your own blood to support the results.

Pores are part of healthy skin, so the goal is refinement, not removal. Pores that look stretched or prominent, often around the nose and cheeks, can look tighter and less noticeable as the skin improves.

Many of our patients come to our Maitland office at the Maitland Exchange on North Orlando Avenue from Winter Park and Casselberry. A lot of them share the same first question: will this actually help my pores, or is it just hype?

What are the honest limits of a microneedling series?

Microneedling improves texture over time, but it is not a quick fix, and it does not work the same way for everyone. Mild scarring and general roughness tend to respond well. Deeper scars may improve but usually will not disappear.

Your results depend on your skin type, the concern you are treating, how many sessions you complete, and how well you care for your skin between appointments. That is why we talk through your history in detail, including any past hyperpigmentation or scarring, before we recommend treatment.

One of our patients actually brought in the magnifying mirror she used every night to look at her skin. She wanted us to see what she saw. She showed us the pores around her nose and on her cheeks, and it was really bothering her.

We talked honestly about whether microneedling was the right option for her. That conversation is the most important part of the process, because the right plan starts with realistic expectations.

Microneedling is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, so we will also ask about that during your consult.

How many microneedling sessions do Maitland patients usually need?

Most patients do best with three to six sessions spaced about four weeks apart. After the series, occasional maintenance treatments help keep the results going.

The number depends on your goals. Someone focused on mild roughness may be happy after fewer sessions, while someone with more noticeable pores or mild scarring often benefits from the full series. We will give you our recommendation after looking at your skin, not before.

Spacing matters because the skin needs time to repair between treatments. Rushing sessions closer together does not speed up results, and it can leave your skin irritated.

Each microneedling with PRP treatment is $700. The treatment itself takes about 30 minutes, after 20 minutes of topical numbing cream to keep you comfortable. It also helps to plan around Florida sun, like skipping a long afternoon at Lake Lily Park or a beach trip right after an appointment. Learn more on our microneedling page.

What is the downtime, and how soon do results show?

Downtime is usually short. Redness, warmth, a mild sunburn-like feeling, itching, and minor pinpoint bleeding are common right after treatment and usually resolve within 72 hours.

If you have an event or important meeting coming up, plan your appointment so those first few days of redness fall on quieter days at home. We will go over aftercare with you before you leave.

Results are gradual. Some patients notice an improvement within a few weeks of their first treatment, and results keep improving for about six months after the last treatment in the series.

That slow build is a good thing. It means the changes look natural, like your own skin on a better day, rather than a dramatic overnight shift. Taking photos before your first session helps you see the progress over time. You can look through our before after gallery to see what other patients have experienced.

Does microneedling pair well with a home skincare routine?

Yes, a good home routine helps protect and extend your results. Microneedling does the work in the office, and your daily care supports your skin between sessions.

The basics matter most. Daily sunscreen is essential in Florida, especially while your skin is healing. Gentle cleansing and consistent hydration help too. Right after treatment, your skin may be more sensitive, so we will tell you when it is safe to restart stronger products like retinoids or exfoliating acids.

We are happy to look at the products you already use during your consultation. Sometimes a few small changes to your routine make a big difference in how your skin responds to treatment.

The best results come from a plan that fits your skin, your goals, and your schedule. We build that plan with you during your first visit, then adjust it as your skin changes.
