What are
PDO threads?

A PDO thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure that helps tighten a person’s skin. Without the need for big incisions, unlike most facelift procedures, PDO thread lifting uses small needles to insert fine threads under the skin. These PDO threads are especially designed to anchor the sagging skin and lift it upwards. The threads dissolve over time & stimulate collagen production, which further diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. PDO threads are great for anyone who is looking to correct lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging in the face can be a good candidate for a PDO thread lift procedure. If you have sagging under the chin and near the cheeks, the procedure is effective and beneficial for you. Ideal candidates are between the ages of 30-65. Every treatment at Vamped Aesthetics is performed personally by Vivi Nguyen, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, a nurse practitioner with a background in dermatology and plastic surgery.

How much does a PDO thread lift actually lift?

A PDO thread lift gives a real but modest lift, and I am honest with patients about where that line sits. The threads reposition mild to moderate sagging and then dissolve over the following months while stimulating your own collagen, so you get an immediate lift plus a gradual firming as the collagen builds. What threads do not do is replace a surgical facelift. If you have significant, heavy skin laxity, I will tell you that at your consultation rather than sell you a result the treatment cannot hold. For many patients the sweet spot is early to moderate sagging, where threads restore the jawline or cheek without any incisions or downtime from surgery. When there is also volume loss underneath, I often pair threads with a collagen stimulator or filler so we are lifting and restoring support at the same time.

Can PDO threads lift the brows and eye area?

Yes, and the brow and upper-eye area is one of the most requested places for them. A few well-placed threads can lift a heavy or hooded brow and open up the eyes for a subtle, refreshed look, sometimes called a cat-eye or fox-eye lift. Because this area is delicate and close to important anatomy, it is exactly the kind of treatment where training matters. I place brow and eye threads conservatively so the result reads as rested rather than pulled or startled. This is also an area where I will talk you through whether threads, a touch of Botox to relax the muscles that pull the brow down, or a combination will give you the most natural lift. We decide together based on how your brow actually moves.

PDO threads, a facelift, or filler: which do I need?

It depends on what is actually causing the change you see, which is why I assess the whole face first. Threads are best for lifting mild to moderate sagging. When the real issue is lost volume that has created hollows and shadows, dermal filler or a collagen stimulator restores that support and often does more than a thread ever could. When the skin is heavily lax, surgery is the honest answer. Most of the time the best plan uses more than one tool: threads to reposition, a biostimulator to firm, and filler to restore contour, sequenced over a few visits. I would rather build you a plan that treats the cause than lift skin that is really just deflated. We map that out at your consultation.

PDO lifting threads can be placed in areas that need “lifting” such as, cheeks, jowls, neck and eyebrows. Other threads may also be inserted to help boost collagen and improve volume loss.

The PDO threads dissolve after six to nine months, but their effects can last up to two years, thanks to the production of collagen.

PDO threads provide immediate results! Over the next 2-4 weeks after your treatment, your procedure, the threads will settle in and continue to improve!

The discomfort with threads is tolerable because a numbing agent will be injected prior to insertion. A vibration tool will also be provided to help distract your senses to make it as comfortable as possible during your treatment.

The most common side effects of PDO threads are swelling, bruising, tenderness, and tightness. These symptoms typically resolve over the next 2 weeks.

The treatment can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour.

During your consultation, I will discuss your areas of concerns, current aesthetic goals and help you create a personalized treatment plan so you always look your best.

YAY congratulations on your little one! However, it is not recommended to get any dermal filler injections while pregnant, breastfeeding or nursing.

Schedule an consultation first and I’ll help create a treatment plan to reach your beauty goals!
