What are
FILLERS?

Fillers are commonly used to treat unwanted signs of aging, including volume loss, fine lines, under-eye bags and wrinkles. It can also be used to help enhance the fullness of lips, contour the face, sharpen the jawline, and refresh tired eyes. Dermal fillers help increase moisture in the skin’s tissue by plumping up and restoring a more youthful appearance. Every treatment at Vamped Aesthetics is performed personally by Vivi Nguyen, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, a nurse practitioner with a background in dermatology and plastic surgery.

Does filler actually lift the face?

Not exactly, and it is worth being clear about that. Filler does not physically lift tissue. What it does is restore the volume you have lost, and that is what softens the shadows and hollows that make a face look tired or heavy. When the light hits your cheek or jawline the way it did years ago, you get a lifted effect without anything being pulled tight. That is why I describe good filler work as restoration rather than a facelift. Used across the whole face in the right proportion, it is the foundation of facial balancing. Filler is excellent for contour and definition. If your real concern is significant sagging skin, I will tell you honestly when a different treatment is the better answer instead of chasing it with more product.

Why does an experienced, licensed injector matter for filler?

Because filler is a medical procedure, and the rare complications are serious enough that real training changes your safety. The one I watch most carefully for is a vascular occlusion, where filler ends up inside or pressing on a blood vessel and interrupts blood flow to the area. Caught quickly by someone who knows the facial anatomy and keeps the dissolving agent on hand, it is manageable. Missed by someone who is not medically trained, it can lead to skin damage and scarring. As a nurse practitioner I inject with that anatomy in mind, I use technique meant to lower the risk, and I am equipped to respond if something does not look right. This is also why I am honest about who is a good candidate and when to wait. Choosing an injector on price alone is where people tend to get into trouble, and your face is not the place to cut corners.

Will filler make me look overfilled?

Not the way I work, because avoiding that look is the whole point. Overdone, pillowy faces come from adding syringe after syringe without stepping back to look at balance. I treat based on your own anatomy, and I only use filler where it is actually the right tool. Not everybody needs five syringes of lip filler a year. In fact, the industry has shifted hard toward subtle work and skin health, and for many patients I reach for a collagen stimulator like Sculptra instead, so the improvement comes from your own tissue rather than added volume. Filler has a place, and I use it when it earns one. My goal is that you look refreshed and like yourself, not like you have obviously had your face filled.

The most common places that people can get dermal fillers include, lips (most popular), cheeks, chin, jawline, smile lines, marionette lines, under-eyes, hands, ear lobes, and temples. During your visit, I will discuss with you your aesthetic goals and provide you with a tailored treatment plan for the best outcome.

The longevity of dermal filler depends on the area treated, type of filler being used, and the individual patient’s metabolism. Once you have obtained your aesthetic goal, dermal filler can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. It is recommended to maintain your results with a visit at least once a year.

Dermal fillers provide immediate results! Over the next 2 weeks after your treatment, your dermal filler will settle in and continue to improve!

The discomfort with dermal filler is tolerable because it contains lidocaine, a numbing agent. A vibration tool will also be provided to help distract your senses to make it as comfortable as possible during your treatment.

The most common side effects of dermal filler are mild swelling, bruising, redness at the injection site, lumps, bumps and tenderness. The side effects are temporary and mostly resolve in a week.

The treatment can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 ½ hours, depending how many areas are being treated.

During your consultation, I will discuss your areas of concerns, current aesthetic goals and help you create a personalized treatment plan so you always look your best.

YAY congratulations on your little one! However, it is not recommended to get any dermal filler injections while pregnant, breastfeeding or nursing.

Lip fillers typically last 6 to 12 months depending on the product used, the amount injected, and your individual metabolism. Juvederm Ultra tends to last longer in the lips than thinner formulas.

Avoid blood thinners including aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E for at least 1 week before your filler appointment. Also avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment. These precautions help minimize bruising.

Generally, it is not recommended to have fillers and microneedling on the same day or in the same treatment area at the same visit. Your provider at Vamped Aesthetics will create a treatment plan that sequences these appropriately.
