What is
Botox?

Neurotoxins, like Botox, Dysport & Xeomin, is the #1 non-surgical cosmetic treatment in America to help diminish fine lines and wrinkles! It works by blocking the release of the electrical messengers from your muscles to the brain, temporarily putting the muscles to “sleep” and prevent the muscle contractions. Repetitive facial movements (raising eyebrows, smiling, furrowing eyebrows, puckering of the lips) cause indentations of the skin, often seen as wrinkles and fine lines. Over time, the lines become deep creases and causes premature aging in your appearance. Botox can help prevent and treat the wrinkles and lines, creating a smoother and more youthful look. Every treatment at Vamped Aesthetics is performed personally by Vivi Nguyen, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, a nurse practitioner with a background in dermatology and plastic surgery.

Does Botox make wrinkles worse if you stop?

No. If you stop Botox, your muscles go back to moving the way they did before, and your face returns to its baseline. This is the question I hear more than any other, usually phrased as "if I start, do I have to keep going forever, and will I look worse if I quit?" Botox does not damage your skin or deepen your lines. What changes over the years is your anatomy. Every year adds a little more sun exposure, a little less elasticity, and a few more everyday expressions pressed into the skin. So when someone stops Botox and looks older a couple of years later, that is normal aging continuing on schedule, not the Botox taking revenge. Used consistently, Botox actually slows how deeply those repeated-motion lines get etched in the first place.

Why treat the whole face instead of just the forehead?

Because the face moves and ages as one connected unit. When I only relax the upper face, the lower face and neck keep pulling the way they always have, and the balance starts to look off. I treat from the forehead down toward the neck, and I keep patients on a rhythm of about every three to four months so results stay even instead of fading in patches. Treating top to bottom is also how a result stays natural rather than looking obviously done in one zone. For many patients this works alongside dermal filler or a collagen stimulator in the spots where lost volume, not muscle movement, is the real problem. We map that out together at your consultation so we are treating the cause of each concern, not just chasing the one wrinkle you noticed in the mirror this morning.

What does natural-looking Botox actually mean?

It means you still make expressions, still look like yourself, and simply look more rested. Frozen, shiny, surprised-looking foreheads usually come from stamping the same dose onto everyone regardless of how their muscles move. I dose to your anatomy, which is why two people who both came in for "forehead Botox" rarely leave with the same number of units. The whole industry has shifted this way over the past couple of years, away from heavy, obvious work and toward softer, preventative dosing, and it is how I have always practiced. Part of that is being willing to tell you no when a little less will look better than a little more. I want people to notice that you look good, not that you had something done.

Botox can be injected into the wrinkles on forehead, inbetween the brows “11s”, wrinkles around the eyes (crow’s feet), by the nose (bunny lines), smoker lines (around the lips), chin (dimpling), platysma bands, masseter muscles for TMJ pain/grinding/clenching and facial slimming, migraines, and armpit for excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).

The masseter muscles are muscles that in the jaw that helps with chewing. When people have excessive grinding of the teeth, clenching or TMJ, they may experience jaw pain or even headaches. Botox is injected into the masseter muscles to help reduce jaw pain and provide relief.

Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating of the armpits. Botox can be injected in this area to reduce sweating by putting the sweat glands to “sleep.”

With the correct dose, Botox last for about 3 to 4 months. I will also discuss with you in detail some things that you can do at home to help maintain your results.

Botox take approximately 5 days to start noticing results, but you will see the full effects in 14 days.

There is minimal discomfort with Botox injections. A vibration tool will be provided to help distract you!

The most common side effects of Botox is redness and bumps at the injection sites, but will typically disappear within an hour.

The treatment takes about 15 minutes.

During your consultation, I will discuss your areas of concerns, current aesthetic goals and help you create a personalized treatment plan so you always look your best.

The 4-hour rule for Botox means you should remain upright and avoid bending over, lying down, or exercising for at least 4 hours after your injection. Bending over can cause the Botox to migrate from the injection site before it fully sets, leading to unintended muscle relaxation in adjacent areas.

Yes. Masseter Botox relaxes the large jaw muscles, which reduces jaw width over time and also helps with teeth grinding (bruxism) and TMJ discomfort. Results develop over 4 to 6 weeks and last 4 to 6 months.
